I like to think I've always known how to read a room. As a choir kid, I trained my ear to know when a blend locks in, a similar negotiation to growing up across cultures in Hong Kong, New York, and Boston. At Harvard, I wrote 118 pages investigating 19th-century American domesticity through the lens of commercial advertising, and have spent my career since studying the technology and economics of everyday life.
